SFI announce €250 million investment into research centres

ICT Ireland and the Irish Software Association (ISA), the Ibec groups that represent the high-tech sector, today welcomed the announcement by Science Foundation Ireland that almost €250 million will be invested in five world class research centres.

ICT Ireland and ISA Director Paul Sweetman said: “Today’s announcement is strong affirmation of the significant role digital technology will play in our economic future. Three of the five new centres focus on ICT, digital and software research. The announcement also highlights the continued partnership between industry and government, with industry contributing €90 million to the five research centres.

“Over 105,000 people are employed in the digital technology sector, and more than 20,000 jobs have been announced in the past five years. The new research centres will play a critical role in the sector’s continued growth.”
