Science Gallery Dublin honoured with dedicated 68c stamp

An Post has awarded Science Gallery at Trinity College Dublin with a 68c stamp designed in its honour to celebrate Ireland’s significant contribution to science.

It is one of two stamps issued this week, the other being a tribute to the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition, which officially opened today, 7 January, at the RDS in Dublin.

Designed by Dublin-based design studio Detail, the new stamps and a special First Day Cover envelope may be viewed and purchased at all main post offices, online at irishstamps.ie and at the Irish Stamps Shop in Dublin’s GPO.

Science Gallery Dublin achieved its highest ever visitor numbers to date last year, reaching 406,982, a 20pc increase on 2013.

A further 9,100 people attending Science Gallery Dublin’s offsite events like TEDxDublin and Dublin Maker. 

Two Science Gallery Dublin exhibitions toured globally with Illusion reaching an audience of over 170,000 visitors in San Diego and Biorhythm opening just before Christmas in Taiwan. 

Originally aiming for 50,000 visitors a year, Science Gallery Dublin has grown to become one of Ireland’s busiest attractions, welcoming 1.8 million visitors since opening its doors in 2008.
