Prince Charles and Duchess of Cornwall to visit Ireland in May

Prince Charles is to visit Ireland from 19 to 22 May 2015 on his first official visit here with the Duchess of Cornwall.

In a statement, Clarence House said the Prince of Wales, accompanied by the Duchess of Cornwall, will be visiting both the Ireland and Northern Ireland during their four-day trip.

Planning is currently underway for the visit, which will include official and private engagements. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is working with the British Embassy in Dublin on these arrangements.

Prince Charles’s previous official visits south of the border were in 1995 and 2002.

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Charlie Flanagan has welcomed the announcement.

“Following the reciprocal State visits of recent years, this visit to Ireland will represent a further expression of the warm and friendly relations which now exist between us,” he said. “We look forward to their arrival next month, and to a visit programme which reflects the quality of these relations.”
