Over 100 Irish craft businesses to gain access to international buyers at Showcase
The first international trade event of Irish Design 2015 (ID2015), ‘Showcase – Ireland’s Creative Expo’, is coming up in the RDS in Dublin, involving 105 Irish craft businesses showing off their wares in the Enterprise Zone.
A joint initiative of the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland, the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Enterprise Ireland, ID2015 aims to promote and celebrate Irish design with a view to create jobs.
The programme includes events across Ireland, as well as activities and showcases at design weeks, fashion weeks and architecture biennales in international design capitals.
Supported by Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs), exhibitors in the Enterprise Zone at Showcase from 18 to 21 January will be exposed to Irish and international buyers and hoping to enter new markets during 2015.
In 2010, the LEOs supported 35 small businesses at Showcase through subsidised stands.
According to Brian McGee, head of market development for the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland, the record number of inspiring design businesses featuring in the Enterprise Zone this year is a reflection on the rich design talent that exists in Ireland.
