Irish clean-tech entrepreneurs to be showcased at first event of Sustainability Gathering 2015
Irish clean-tech and sustainability entrepreneurs will be showcased at the first event as part of the Sustainability Gathering 2015 on 22 June at the CHQ Building, Custom House Quay, Dublin Docklands.
The ‘A Green Space to Innovate’ event incorporates a number of activities designed to present delegates with a mix of investment opportunities, thought-provoking presentations and discussions from industry experts.
The national final for the ClimateLaunchpad competition will take place on the day, with eight Irish teams participating.
They will pitch their ideas, spanning food production to food waste, energy efficiency to energy production and from climate resilience to resource recovery.
Managed by Climate-KIC, the EU’s main climate innovation initiative, ClimateLaunchpad is the largest ‘pre-accelerator’ in the world in the area of green and clean-tech.
Three Irish finalists will go on to represent Ireland at the European final of ClimateLaunchpad 2015, which will be held in Amsterdam on 4 September 2015.
“To take advantage of the US$36 global investment in sustainability opportunity, Irish clean-tech companies will require a connected clean-tech ecosystem; it requires innovators, entrepreneurs, enablers and users of its technologies and services,” said Aideen O’Hora, executive director of The Green Way – Dublin’s Cleantech Cluster.
“It also demands a strong and well connected academic and research community, together with public sector support.”
