Ireland’s industrial production fastest rising in EU

Irish industrial production rose by 35.8pc between November 2013 and November 2014, the largest yearly increase in industrial production in the EU, figures from Eurostat show.

The highest rises were in Ireland’s pharmaceutical and high-tech sectors. The food and energy sectors also showed strong growth.

The member states with the next highest year-on-year increases in EU industrial production are Hungary (+5.8pc), Estonia (+4.9pc), and the Czech Republic (+4.7pc).

The largest decreases were in Sweden (-3.9pc), the Netherlands (-3.5pc), Slovakia (-3.3pc), and France (-2.9pc).

In the entire EU of 28 member states, production fell by 0.1pc from November 2013 to November 2014.
