Government commitment to promote entrepreneurship welcome

Ibec, the group that represents Irish business, today welcomed the publication of the National Policy Statement on Entrepreneurship in Ireland. Ireland needs a business environment that rewards entrepreneurs, innovation and risk-taking. Budget 2015 provides an opportunity to reform the tax system to encourage business investment and entrepreneurship.

Aidan Sweeney Ibec Senior Government, Enterprise & Regulatory Affairs Executive said: “Ireland needs a business environment that actively champions entrepreneurship and rewards innovation and risk-taking. This is something we have highlighted as a priority as part of the ongoing Ibec campaign, An Ireland that works. Ireland doesn’t produce enough start-up firms and not enough small companies make it big”.

“The report contains a number of recommendations that will increase the support offered to entrepreneurs, particularly serial entrepreneurs. It is important that we make it easier to set-up a business. Budget 2015 is an opportunity to reform the tax system to encourage investment and reward success. Finance, access to export markets and ease and cost of doing business all remain significant hurdles for Irish business”,
