Galway MedTech company Versono Medical has raised €6.7m to develop vascular disease technology.
The medtech start-up, situated in Parkmore West, Galway, has 22 full-time and part-time employees and was founded in 2018. Versono Medical has raised €6.7 million to help bring its device to the market. The device helps patients with severe peripheral arterial disease (PAD) break down complicated blockages.
The funds were raised from a mix of a current investors, such as DHKN, and BVP, and private medical device investors. Enterprise Ireland and the Western Development Commission were also on board.
This technology, according to the medtech, could help PAD sufferers avoid more invasive and traumatic surgical procedures. PAD affects around 230 million individuals worldwide, according to estimates.
Versono will be able to complete clinical trials and qualify strategic medical device technology for its initial clinical indication of crossing arterial blockages and carrying treatments to treat blockages in 2023, thanks to the investment.
