Galway-based medical device company Biomerics to create 40 new jobs.

Biomerics, a major medical device contract manufacturer with operations in Galway, has announced the creation of 40 positions. The new appointments coincide with the opening of the company’s new 2,000-square-foot balloons and balloon catheters centre of excellence in Galway. Liosban Business Park will house the new office.

Biomerics founded in 1994, has eight locations in the United States, Costa Rica and the company’s first location in Europe in Ireland. Biomerics provides engineering design and development services, engineering transfer manufacturing services, and contract manufacturing services—including sterilization and packaging—for medical device components, subassemblies, and finished medical devices.

Biomerics chose Galway because of the region’s large cluster of medical device companies, skilled labour pool, international reputation, and proximity to suppliers and distributors, according to the company.
