300 events taking place for the Start-up Gathering 2015

The Start-up Gathering 2015 programme of events has been launched with the aim of promoting entrepreneurship and helping to develop world-class regional start-up hubs, as well as highlighting Ireland’s start-up sector to the world.

Over 300 Start-up Gatherings will take place in Dublin, Waterford, Cork, Limerick and Galway, making 5 to 10 October one of the biggest national start-up weeks in the world.

The initiative is led by the not-for-profit organisation Star-tup Ireland, supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, with Bank of Ireland as sponsor and key corporate partner.

“Ireland simply doesn’t have time for a gradual evolution of our start-up industry, the increasing rate of change brought about by technology requires a ‘start-up revolution’ if Ireland is to continue to be a high growth economy in the next 10 years,” said Eoin Costello, co-founder of Start-up Ireland.

“Startup Gathering 2015 is more than just an awareness campaign.  It’s about driving real change across the startup sector, creating better networks, connections and collaborations with all of the players.”

Participants will have an opportunity to showcase their start-ups, discover the supports and services available to them, take part in networking opportunities and collaborate with other start-ups and established corporates.

Enterprise Ireland has established a dedicated €500k start-up fund in conjunction with the Startup Gathering to attract international start-ups to locate in Ireland.
